Services
- Outpatient Services are run daily from 9.00 AM to 2.00 PM in ‘B’ Block, 5th Floor in designated Pediatric OPD area. There is a facility of play room for the children and a T.V./ DVD for showing health education and recreational films to children while waiting for their turn.
- Apart from patient care, daily all UPI as well as additional vaccination are provided to the children & adolescents.
- Thalasemia Day Care Centre runs daily in Pediatric OPD area, B-Block, 5th floor, Room No. B 5212 from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM.
- Spirometry (Pulmonary Function Test) for children at Pediatric Pulmonology Clinic.
- Various Special Clinics are held.
Immunization Clinic
All the week days from 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM and in addition on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 2.30pm to 4.00pm. Vaccinations under the National programme of immunization (UPI) viz. Pentavalent vaccine(DPT, Hepatitis B, Hemophilus influenza)DPT, OPV, IPV, Rota Virus, BCG, MR are provided free of cost. In addition, the other additional/optional vaccines such as Hepatitis B, Hib, chicken pox, rubella, MMR, typhoid, hepatitis A Vaccines are provided at a subsidized rate in collaboration with Rotary International.
Inpatient Deptt
Pediatrics emergency & critical care management services
(14 bedded), Level II, Block A. All critically ill Pediatric patients and out born newborn babies are admitted & managed. Ventilation facilities are available in Paediatric Intensive Care Unit(PICU) at Level III, Block -A.
Pediatric wards
Area: 4th Floor, Block-A 2 wards are there, Area 43 (40 Beds) & 45(30 Beds). Bronchoscopy facility is available in Area 45.
Teaching & Training
Undergraduates teaching
150 undergraduate students are provided teaching as per MCI guidelines & curriculum. Assigned lectures and clinical case demonstrations, seminars are conducted regularly.
Undergraduate quiz
Every year, the department organizes pediatric quiz for undergraduates’ students to popularize the subject & to participate in national competition.
Other educational activities
The department encourages undergraduates’ students to take up short-term research projects during their vacations.
Postgraduate (PG) teaching
06 MD candidates are admitted each year w.e.f. 2017. They are provided teaching as per MCI guidelines & curriculum. Regular teaching in the form of bedsides, seminars, journal clubs and case presentation is done. PG students also participate in the IAP PG Quiz and NNF Quiz.
The department offers clinical observer ship in child development, nutrition and other aspects of Pediatrics on short-term basis after approval through the Director Principal, GMCH-32, Chandigarh.
