State Resource Centre, under National Programme of Rehabilitation for persons with Disabilities Act, 1995(NPRPD)is functional at Room No. 3201 of department of Orthopaedics, Block 'B', Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh. under the supervision of Prof. Raj Bahadur, Head, Department of Orthopaedics & Medical Superintendent, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh who is also a Nodal Officer of the Centre. Prof. Sunandan Sood HOD Ophthalmology, Prof. BS Chavan, HOD Psychiatry & c, Prof. Arjun Dasss, HOD ENT are also teh Nodal Officers of their respective Departments and actively participated for the working of centre. Dr. PN Gupta is the Convenor of the Centre. Their addresses along with telephone nos. are as under:

1. Training of community based rehabilitation workers: the centre has appointed 139 community based rehabilitation worker from the rural and urban areas of UT, Chandigarh in different four batches after one months training, for Locomotor, Visual, Speech & Hearing and Mental disabilities by the departments of Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT &  Psychiatry and also aware them practically in different institution like Institute of Blind, Sector 26,Chandigarh, Nevadec Prosthetic Centre, Zirakpur, Govt. Institute for Mentally Retarded Children, Sector 32, Chandigarh & Rehabilitation for Handicapped Children in Paryaas Building, Sector 38, Chandigarh. Presently 125 CBRWs are working in community for the welfare of the disabled people.

2. Providing Rehabilitation service to the disabled by the centre as well as by the CBRWs 

3. Providing medical and surgical treatment to the disable.

4. Creating awareness in the community of various aspects of disability.

5. Disability Certification : approximately 900 disability certificate free of cost ( Except for MACT/ Claim cases) issued to the disabled people from the Centre. (list already supplied vide letter No. Gmch/Ortho/03/979 dated 15.11.2003).

6. Creating data based of disabled at Chandigarh: Community Based Rehabilitation Workers has conducted door to door survey and collected the data of disabled persons at Chandigarh (list already supplied vide letter No. Gmch /Ortho /03/ 979 dated 15.11.2003.)

7.  Aids & Appliances

1. 100 Folding sticks have been purchased from NIVH, Dehradun to be given to blind persons.
2. Glasses were distributed to poor patients who examined in camps
3. Free IOL Service for poor patients .by Ophthalmology department. 
4. Free Lens facility for patients of U. T., Chandigarh by Ophthalmology department.

9. Organizing disability detection camps: 

   State Resource Centre has organized 19 Disability detection Camps in rural, slums areas, colonies & urban areas of U. T., Chandigarh for all type of disabilities on its own, in collaboration with Indian Red Cross, U. T., and its coordinating agencies and treated approximately 7677 patients. (List of which also sent vide letter No. No. Gmch/Ortho/03/979 dated 15.11.2003).

   Recently also participated in two camps at Village: Karsan and Sector 25 colony in a new series of Health camps for Children starting from 14.11.2003 (Children's Days) by Indian Red Cross Society, U. T. Chandigarh.
