 4.         Eligibility Criteria                        :          

 Selection of Students for admission to three years Postgraduate Degree Course (MD/MS) Junior Residents, for the year – 2007 in the Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh shall be made as under : -

 All India Pool (50% Seats) : In compliance of the Supreme Court decision, the screening test for 50% seats shall be conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and candidates will be allocated to the Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh as per their performance in order of merit by the Director General of Health Services, Delhi.

 U.T. Pool (50% Seats) : The Postgraduate Entrance Examination for 50% seats shall be conducted by the Panjab University, Chandigarh as per notification issued by the Chandigarh Administration.  Out of total seats, 14% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste and 10% for sponsored/ deputed doctors of U.T. Cadre who are regular employees of Chandigarh Administration.

 Allocation of Discipline for 50% seats on All India basis, 14% seats for Scheduled Caste and 10% for sponsored/ deputed U.T. Cadre doctors of Chandigarh Administration will be made by rotation in alphabetic order of the discipline.

 Eligibility : 50% Seats

1.         40% seats are reserved for students who have qualified their MBBS from Union Territory, Chandigarh on the basis of Entrance Test to be conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh on behalf of Chandigarh Administration.  However, if a candidate has passed the MBBS from a University other than Panjab University, Chandigarh by virtue of his/her selection to the same under 15% All India Quota by the DGHS, New Delhi, he/she would also be eligible to get admission in PG Courses at Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh on the basis of entrance test, subject to fulfillment of the following conditions : -

a)                   He/She has passed 10+2 examination from Union Territory of Chandigarh.

b)                   He/She is a permanent resident of Union Territory of Chandigarh.

c)                   He/She has passed MBBS from a University other than Panjab University, Chandigarh by virtue of his/her selection to the same under 15% All India Quota by the DGHS, New Delhi and has not availed State Quota in any other State of India.  A proof of this effect must be enclosed with the application : (I) Copy of DGHS allocation letter under 15% All India Quota (or) (ii) Letter from the Head of Institution where admitted under 15% All India DGHS allocation.

However, for MD (Anatomy), Candidates who have worked as demonstrator in Anatomy for one year or more in GMCH are also eligible to apply for MD (Anatomy) only as General Category Departmental candidates but they also will have to appear for entrance examination alongwith other candidates.

5.         Pay and Stipend                        :          

1.                   Residency Scheme approved by Govt. of India is applicable to Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh under which selected candidates called Junior Residents will be paid stipend at the following rates or as amended by the Govt. from time to time :

First Year                     :           Rs. 9,400/- P.M.

Second Year                 :           Rs. 9,725/- P.M.

Third Year                     :           Rs. 10,050/- P.M.

2.                   Sponsored/ Deputed candidates will not be paid any stipend by the Institution.

3.                   Fee payable by the Junior Residents will be as per Panjab pattern which is as under : -

First Year                      :           Rs. 22,000/- P.A.

Second Year                 :           Rs. 24,500/- P.A.

Third Year                     :           Rs. 27,500/- P.A.

6.         Rules and Regulations                            :           The PG student will adhere to the Rules and                                                                                    
                                                                                    Regulations of the hospital and any                                                                                      contravention of the same depends upon the                                                                                      Junior Residency Scheme.
