Department of Central Library Started in September 1992

Library is the mirror of its institution. It is a place in which literary and artistic materials, such as books, periodicals newspapers, pamphlets, prints, records, and tapes, are kept for reading, reference, or lending. GMCH library has all these features rather more than this. Library is a growing organism and GMCH library has been fully automated with a very rich collection of books and latest journals. GMCH library is a member of NML consortia as well, under which library has access to more than 2700 online journals of various subjects through various publishers.

Mrs Har Kaur has done her Masters of Library and Information science in the year 1998 and cleared UGC (NET) in the year 1999, presently perusing PhD at Panjab University, Chandigarh. She joined GMCH in the year 1994 and heading the department since 2001. Prior to this, she has also worked in the Central State Library and library of Govt. College of Girls in the year 1989-1991. She has 28 International and National publications in various journals. Further she has attended many national and international conferences and presented papers. She is Conducting frequent books exhibitions and National Seminars. She has been instrumental since the computerization of the library (From the year 2001) which is fully computerized now.
