Govt. Medical College Hospital Library was established in 1992 in a small room, with a few books and one librarian in Prayas building, Sector 38, Chandigarh. At present Library is located at Level 5, B-Block, Hospital building, Sector 32, Chandigarh. GMCH Library is fully computerized and automated with software LIBSYS.

As library is a growing organism today GMCH Library has grown up with very rich collection including Books, Journals, Non-Print material, Newspaper, Magazines etc.
