In addition the department has para-medical staff of about twenty one
persons to provide routine as well as round the clock emergency services.
SERVICES
TEACHING
Every year 50 students are imparted training as per the latest pattern recommended by the MCI. Assessment of the students is done with the help of seminars, tutorials and examinations (written and oral). Till date 14 students have been awarded distinction in this discipline.
TRAINING
Students of Medical Lab Technology are
being enrolled as trainees in the diagnostic laboratory of the department.
They are imparted training, in handling various aspects of clinical chemistry.
DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY
WORK
The clinical Chemistry Laboratory was
established in Feb.,1994. Emergency services were started in May.,1997.
Presently the department is equipped with auto analyser, semiauto
analyser, blood gas analyser, electrolyte analyser and other equipments
required to carry out different investigations.
In all approx. 40 parameter are done in the deptt. which include
routine as well as specialised investigations (like hormonal assays, stone analysis.
lipidogram, tumor markers etc.). 24 hr., emergency services are provided for
the patient care and about 18 investigations are done round the clock.
Starting with 20,000 investigations in the year in 1995,.more than 4,00,000 of
investigations are being carried out in routine as well as emergency.
RESEARCH
All the faculty members
have reputed national or international publications.They are involved in the
departmental research projects on GTT,Thyroid profile and PSA . Dr. Savita Prashar is
working on a DST project "Lipid profile in HRT".
